Environment Agency

The Environment Agency combines the regulation and management of land, air and water in England and Wales, and carries out the following functions:

  • Regulates treatment, storage movement and disposal of controlled waste.
  • Ensures improvements in the quality of rivers, estuaries and coastal waters.
  • Integrates Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) for the largest and potentially most polluting industries.
  • Controls the management and disposal of radioactive wastes.
