The
Environment Agency combines the regulation and management of land,
air and water in England and Wales, and carries out the following
functions:
- Regulates treatment, storage movement and disposal of controlled waste.
- Ensures improvements in the quality of rivers, estuaries and coastal waters.
- Integrates Pollution
Prevention and Control (IPPC) for the largest and potentially
most polluting industries.
- Controls the management
and disposal of radioactive wastes.
